Motivation

The CNCF Sandbox contains the next generation of software that cloud native organizations will adopt. New and innovative projects are added to the Sandbox and these projects often mature into Incubating and Graduated projects. The CNCF Sandbox is a window into how we will build, deliver and operate cloud-native systems in the near future.

This podcast will be useful in helping the teams running Kubernetes understand the Sandbox projects.

For the listener, the following questions should be answered with each episode:

• What problem is the project solving
• What (if any) legacy software the project replaces
• What is the maturity and production readiness of the project
• What it will take for the project to get out of the sandbox:
• External events
• Ecosystem maturity

Each episode will be an interview with the maintainer(s) of a Sandbox project. The interviewee should be technical and be knowledgeable about the project. This interview is an opportunity for the maintainer to explain and promote their Sandbox project.

Common topics to be covered during the interview are:

• Describe the project and what it does, who it’s for.
• Who should use it today, persona or environment. Who is using it today.
• What was the motivation for creating it / backstory
• Tell the story of how and why this project was created. Where did the motivation come from?
• Why was it donated to the CNCF?
• What will it take to graduate out of the sandbox.
• What types of use cases are you looking for? Where are you looking for help?
